Homegoing Celebration for Agnes Alexander

Mrs. Agnes Hart Alexander, 91 of Charlotte, began her earthly life on May 7, 1929 in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina.  She entered eternal rest on Thursday, February 18, 2021 at Carrington Place Rehabilitation and Living Center, Matthews, N.C.

Agnes was the youngest of five children born to the late Odell Hart and Lottie Sherrill Hart.  Her sisters and brothers preceded her in death.

Agnes grew up in the Cherry Community and was educated in the Charlotte School system at Myers Street Elementary School and West Charlotte High School.  She went on to further her education at West Virginia State University in Charleston, West Virginia and earned a BA Degree in Psychology.  Agnes spent her life career working in retail and cosmetology.

At an early age, she gave her life to Christ at her home church Columbus Chapel AME Zion in Davidson, N.C. and later joined her husband, Marcellus Alexander at Memorial Presbyterian Church.

Agnes enjoyed gardening, tennis, dining out with family and friends, and shopping for her dogs, Luke and Sophie.  She also enjoyed and looked forward to talking with church members, family, and friends on the telephone.

Left to cherish her memory are her caregivers, nephew and niece, Raymond and Inez Alexander; two sisters-in-law, Hazeline Alexander and Harietta Alexander; two nephews, James Mims (Frances), Rudolph V. Black (Tamera); two nieces, Deremia A. Witherspoon (Willie), Renee A. Craft (Howard); one great-niece, Ramine C. Alexander; three great-nephews, James W. Alexander (Dameka), Brian Alexander (Michelle), Alexter Witherspoon; and a host of grand-nieces, grand-nephews, and cousins.
