Alan "Bud" Dunbar Williams was born on October 22, 1961 in Brooklyn, New York to Mrs. Edna Douglas Springs and the late Julius Williams, II. He was the youngest of eight children. He went to be with the Lord on May 23, 2015. His Creator called for him. Alan attended Thomas Jefferson High School in New York City. He was very smart and learned to read the newspaper at the age of 5 years old. He worked as a clerk for the Criminal Justice System in 1985 until 1990. In 1993, he moved to Charlotte, North Carolina with his loving mother. He worked on several janitorial jobs and also as a Security Guard here in Charlotte. Alan was baptized at Salem Baptist Church in Brooklyn, NY where Rev. Thomas J. Boyd was the pastor. He was very close to the Lord; he loved and honored God with all his heart. Alan was kind and generous to everyone he knew and met. His passion was baseball and basketball. He loved all sports and played on a baseball team as a young boy with his father. Alan enjoyed cooking and cleaning; that was what he loved to do. In addition to his father, Alan was preceded in death by his nephew, George Gilbert Jennett. He will be dearly missed with that beautiful smile by everyone who knew him. Survivors include his wife, Sandra Williams; daughter, Cassandra Williams; his loving and caring mother whom he loved unconditionally, Edna Williams Springs; his step-father, Eucephus Springs; brothers, Julius C. Williams, III (Verna), Diedor Williams (Doris) and Miles Williams; sisters, Alean C. Williams, Judy Williams Booth (Thomas), Teresa Williams and Sylvi Williams Thompson, (Donald); one uncle, Kenneth Douglas (Linda); aunts, Gracie Harper, Annie Thomas (Billy), Jacqueline King (Rubin); great-aunt, Sarah Turner; nieces and nephews; and a host of cousins and friends. A memorial service for Mr. Williams will be held on Sunday, 1:00 p.m. in Grier Memorial Chapel, 115 John McCarroll Avenue, Charlotte.
