Alberta G. Higgins, 90, of Charlotte, NC, passed away on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at her residence in Charlotte, NC.

Alberta Higgins was born May 7, 1935, in Charlotte, North Carolina, to the late Mattie Guest and Earl Patton. She departed this life on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at her residence. She was an only child.

Alberta attended Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools. She had several types of occupations – window washer, CNA, mail sorter, sandwich maker and she also took care of children. She loved to cook, listen to music, and watch sports. She was an Oakland Raiders fan. Most of all, she loved working in her yard. She sometimes would work so hard until she forgot about the time. She truly worked in her yard faithfully until her health started to fail.

Alberta will truly be missed by so many people because she was such a caring person. She was a faithful member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church for many years and for as long as she was physically able.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Higgins; son, Douglas Higgins and grandson, Damien Johnson.

She leaves to cherish her memory a daughter, Teresa Brown; son, Jerome Higgins, both of Charlotte, NC; three grandchildren, Keith Higgins (Michella), Tiffany Higgins and Detasha Johnson, all of Charlotte, NC; nine great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren, all of Charlotte, NC.
