Mrs. Alberta Friday Payne, 80, of Charlotte, NC, departed this life on Monday, October 21, 2024, at her residence.

On Monday, October 21, 2024, Mrs. Alberta Friday-Payne, known as "Grand Mommie," was called home to glory.

She was born in Dallas, North Carolina on March 31, 1944, to the late Samuel and Aslee Friday.  She received her educational teaching from Gaston County Public School. She graduated from Highland High School.

Alberta was a loving and faithful wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and grandmother. She provided guidance, support and protection to the family. Her sense of humor, laughter and creativity were well known. She was a talented seamstress. She enjoyed creating interior decor and was an avid novel reader. Alberta faithfully attended The Fellowship Place - Charlotte before her illness.

She leaves to celebrate treasured memories, a loving and devoted husband of 40 years, Donzell Payne, of the home; one sister, Mary Lee Harrison and one brother, Robert Friday, both of Maryland; three daughters, Dawn E. Adams, Annette Bryant, both of Charlotte, NC and Angela Payne-Smith of Denver, CO and three sons, Ronald Grier Jr, Timothy Grier, and Benjie Grier, all of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, Antonio Mack, Kirsten Bryant, Kaylan Bryant, Dailyn Bryant, Daunte' Adams, Jessica Grier, Toryann Grier,  Kori Simpson, Elijah Grier, Raylin Grier, Taran Grier, Rashid Grier and Devon Atly; and a host of other relatives and friends.
