Alice Geneva Leary, 77 of Charlotte, passed away on October 30, 2019 at her residence. She was born March 8, 1942 in Wilmington, NC to the late Ruby Mae Melton and the late Boyce Little.
Alice was educated in the public schools of Mecklenburg County. She graduated from York Road High School in 1960. Alice was active with her high school alumni and regularly attended the class reunions. She was employed at Queens College in her younger years and then established her career at W.A. Beuning where she retired as a commercial engraver. Alice was a great cook, loved entertaining, and all enjoyed her cooking.
Ms. Leary was a member of South End Presbyterian Church where she was a very active and faithful member. She sang on the Chancel Choir and worked with the women in the Circle of Abigail. She was an ordained Elder and Deacon, held other positions at her church, and volunteered without hesitation.
Alice, affectionately called "Geneva," "Eva," and "Tuta," was a very loving and caring mother, sister, grandmother and friend.
In addition to her parents, Alice was preceded in death by her sister, Barbara DuPree.
Alice leaves to cherish her memories two daughters, La Lisa Leary of Decatur, GA and Chiquitia Leary (Pam) of Charlotte, NC; brother, Boyce "Toot" Little, Jr. (Cleo); godson, Fred Styles of Spartanburg, SC; two granddaughters, Brittany Leary and Requitia Farrar (Qual), both of Charlotte; two great-grandchildren, Jenarra Lee Frontis, III and Rae'lynn Alexis Frontis of Charlotte; niece, Valerie "Val" Hoey, nephew, Rickey Hoey; two great-nephews, Exzavier Hoey and Emmanuel Hoey; a special aunt, Margaret Melton; and a host of other relatives and friends.
