Aliyah began her education at Oakdale Elementary and continued middle school at Saluda Trail. She graduated from South Pointe High School. Aliyah excelled in school and completed her high school requirements in the fall of 2017, however she elected to walk the stage with her graduating class in June of 2018. While in school, Aliyah loved cheerleading, often serving as a guide and mentor to younger cheer mates. She cheered competitively with Palmetto Spirit & Cheer of Rock Hill, SC.
Aliyah's strong sense of community was not limited to cheer though, she could often be found volunteering and serving her community in a myriad of ways. She joined JROTC in high school, and though she had other career options, Aliyah chose to join the U.S. Army upon completion of high school at the age of 17. She loved the Army and was both diligent and motivated to progress and succeed. She was a leader and received the Good Conduct Medal from the Department of the Army and was promoted in October of 2021 to Specialist in the United States Army.
Aliyah was invigorating, she was adventurous and lived life by her own rules. She never feared consequences and was always ready to try new things. Aliyah was unapologetically outspoken. She was strong, courageous, outgoing, persistent, vibrant, and loving. She was nurturing and a role model. She was a sun in her own right; people gravitated towards her. She loved to travel, and she loved life. She loved her family and friends and was always excited about spending time with them. She was a true Leo; a ray of light in a sometimes dark world.
Above all of Aliyah's successes and achievements, her greatest accomplishment was her acceptance of Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. Aliyah accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior at the age of 16 and was baptized at Friendship Baptist Church in Charlotte, NC, where she attended until leaving for the military. She made it a point to establish membership and serve on the Praise and Worship Team at her duty station at Fort Drum, specifically at The Rock Church in Watertown, New York. Once Aliyah returned to Rock Hill in 2020, she joined and was baptized at Elevation Ballantyne where she continued serving and volunteering until her health failed.
