Mr. Allen Washington Knox, 85 of Charlotte, formerly of Concord, passed away on February 17, 2016 at his residence. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Mozelle Miller Knox; brother, Sherman Knox; sister, Ophelia Knox.  He leaves to mourn his great nephew and caretaker Jermaine McClelland (Joi), his children; Edith Starks, Adriene Starks, and Allen J. Starks and three additional children he helped to raise, Barbara, Corine and Ana; a host of grandchildren, nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.  He retired form Charlotte Mecklenburg School System in 1990 after 28 years.  He loved working in the garden and being surrounded by his family and friends. Funeral service will be at 12 noon on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at Grier Memorial Chapel.  Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 12 noon.  Burial will follow at Beatties Ford Memorial Garden.
