Almettia Brunson Ellison, 58 of Charlotte, passed away on October 30, 2019 at Atrium Health. She was born March 5, 1961, in Sumter, South Carolina to the late Samuel Brunson and Elease Cantey Brunson.  Almettia was the second youngest child of nine children.

Almettia joined Calvary Baptist Church in Pinewood, South Carolina, at an early age.  Upon relocating  to Charlotte, North Carolina, she joined Little Rock A.M.E.  Zion Church.  Throughout her life she held a strong faith and enjoyed a personal relationship with the Lord.  She loved life especially her grandchildren and family.  You would often see her volunteering at the Soup Kitchen feeding the hungry and less fortunate and working at the Food Bank.  Her life was an example of love, devotion, and service.

Almettia began her education at Thomasville High School and graduated in 1979.  She received an Associate Degree from Kings College in Charlotte, NC.  Almettia furthered her studies at High Point University in High Point, North Carolina where she received a B.S. Degree in Accounting and Business Administrative in 1990.  She was enrolled in the Master's Degree program at University of North Carolina at Charlotte.  Almettia owned and managed her Tax Accounting Company and worked for H & R Block.  Additionally, she was employed as a Staff Accountant for Wachovia Bank (Wells Fargo), The City of Charlotte, Turbo-Air, and Johnson C. Smith University.

Almettia was a member of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Alumna Association of the South Atlantic Region.

Almettia leaves to cherish her memory a daughter, Shantelle Ellison and Finance' Preston Montgomery; grandchildren, Teighlor Luckey, Preston II, Ava and King Montgomery, all of Charlotte, NC; sisters, Delores Scott, Ellen Brunson, Maggie (Roosevelt) Spann, and Mary Brunson all of Thomasville, NC; two brothers, Samuel (Mary) Brunson of Summerton, SC and Ervin Brunson of Thomasville, NC; two aunts, Blanche Preston; a host of nieces, nephews, and friends, including special friends Barbara Doster (Mom) and Mary Kincaid.
