Alton Redfern, Sr. was born to the late Mildred and Eugene Redfern on July 31, 1956 in Charlotte, North Carolina. He departed this life on Monday, April 18, 2022. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his dedicated wife of thirty-four years, Gracie Redfern, two brothers Ervin Wallace, Sr. Rickey Redfern, and one grandchild Darius Kimbrough.

Alton graduated from John Adams High School in Queens, New York. He moved back to North Carolina in 1979 where he started working at Goodyear. Before departing his life, he had his own lawn care and janitorial service.

He leaves to cherish his memories five children-Demetri Kimbrough, Nikita Braham (Phillipp), Alton Dequinn Leary, Shonte" Armstrong (Bobby), and Alton Redern, Jr. (LaChica); seven siblings-Joris W. Wilson (Eddie), Denise Scott (Michael), Eleshia Redfern, Michael Redfern (Erica), Marlon Blanding (Shaun), Lamonte Redfern (Maisha), Eugene Redfern; ten grandchildren, Demetri Kimbrough, Kylik Kimbrough, Darius Kimbrough, Key'aira Braham, Jalen Miller, Phillip Brham, Deonte Kimbrough, Camille Armstrong, Addysn Redfern, Ally Redfern; one great grand-child-Brooklyn Kimbrough; one brother-in-law Bernard Price, two aunts, Jessie Wallace and Doris Miller; one uncle James Redfern, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
