Alvinia Annie Howie, 92 of Charlotte, went to meet her Heavenly Father on Thursday, October 8, 2020 at her residence. Alvinia was born October 4, 1928 in Dallas, North Carolina to the the late Carrie Bell Johnson. She was raised by her grandparents, Mr. Stalling and Mrs. Emma Young. She had one brother and three sisters. She became a member of the United House of Prayer for All People at a young age and became a Saint at the Mallard Creek Location. Alvinia's daughter, Lillie shared the Gospel with her on Mother's Day 2018 and she accepted Christ in her heart.
She was married for 46 years to the late Fred Howie, Sr. and together they had fifteen beautiful children. "Mama" as she was affectionately called was the best cook you could ever meet, and she loved to bake. If you were ever hungry in her presence, she made sure you ate. She loved sewing and quilting. Also Mama had a green thumb "you bet not touch them flowers." She loved her garden of vegetables and fruits and also was known as the candy lady of Keyway.
Mama loved church and was always there. She was a strong black woman and treated everyone as family. Her wisdom and life lessons will be remembered by all.
Her brother, two sisters and six children (John, Clarence, Annie, Bobby, Leonard and Christipher) preceded her in death.
Those left to cherish her memory, include nine children, Fred Howie, Jr. (Pauline), Hattie Howie, Lillie Bell Robinson (Leon), Dorothy Grier, Betty Jean Howie, Nancy Howie, James Howie, Otis Howie (Tracey), and Charles Howie; 48 grandkids, 95 great grandkids and 4 great great grandkids. Alvinia lived life to the fullest and it was a blessed one!
