Amelia Earnhardt Wilson, 86 of Charlotte, passed away on February 9, 2020 at her residence. She was born on April 27, 1933 in Huntersvile, North Carolina to the late Samuel Wilson and Maggie Wilson. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Carrie Frances McDuffie.
Affectionately known as "Nete" to family and friends, Amelia was loved by many. In her early years, she attended Catawba Presbyterian Church in Huntersville, North Carolina. Amelia was educated through the Mecklenburg County School System where she attended Torrence-Lytle School as a bright student, and obtained her high school diploma. Amelia was dedicated to her education and went on to obtain a college degree at Barber-Scotia College. After completing her studies, Amelia relocated and moved to New Jersey in her adult years. As she had a big heart to serve others, she worked at Greystone Medical in Morristown, New Jersey in the 1970's. In addition, she served as an esteemed elder at the Trinity Presbyterian Church in Montclair, New Jersey.
Amelia helped anyone in need, and devoted her loyalty and love to her family. Amelia moved back to Charlotte, NC in her retirement, where she attended Catawba Presbyterian and Sugaw Creek Presbyterian Church for many years and continued to be of service to her community.
Amelia leaves behind her brother, Thomas Wilson (Pearl); a special nephew, Howard Wilson (Carrie); a special niece, Michelle Wilson; special nephew and niece, Maurice Mitchell III and Ayanna Mitchell; and special nephews, Kamrhyn Mitchell and Kadyn Mitchell.
