Ancil Celestino Rock, 75 of Charlotte, departed this life on Friday, November 25, 2022 at Levine & Dickson, Huntersville.  He was born May 17, 1947, to Athelbert and Doriel Rock on the island of Barbados, in the Parrish of St. Michael.  Although Ancil was an only child, he was raised with many cousins who were like brothers and sisters to him.

Ancil was educated at Roebuck Primary Boys School and St. Leonard's Boys Secondary School.  He emigrated to New York City to live in 1966.  He was employed by Royal Insurance Company where he met and later married Myra A. Rock on November 25, 1978.  From this union was born one daughter, Venecia Rock White.  The family relocated to Charlotte, North Carolina in 1986 and became South Tryon Presbyterian Church members, later renamed Bread of Life Christian Ministry.  He then became a member of Legacy Ministries Church of Charlotte.  He loved playing the piano and keyboard and singing in the choir.  He also enjoyed cooking.  He was a collector of pens, watches, and gadgets.  He loved watching old shows and movies on TV in his spare time.  He enjoyed driving on long trips, particularly to New York to check on and care for his parents.  He retired from Royal Insurance after 35 years of service.  Thereafter, he worked for The Inspiration Network for five years.  He then worked for and retired from Enterprise Rent-A-Car after 10 years of service.

Ancil leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Venecia Rock White (Lucius), granddaughter Sydnee White, Aunt Beryl Bennett, and a host of other family members, cousins, and friends.  Ancil was preceded in death by his parents Athelbert and Doriel Rock, and his wife, Myra A. Rock.

Ancil will be remembered for his love of music and his delicious Barbadian-inspired meals.
