Anita Lucinda Hendricks was born June 9, 1963 in Charlotte, North Carolina. She departed this life on Monday, July 31, 2023 at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center (CMC Main). She was the daughter of the late Joshua Hendricks and Velma Howie Hendricks and the granddaughter of the late Fred Stewart and Lucinda Stewart.

The youngest of five children, Anita graduated from East Mecklenburg High School in Charlotte, North Carolina. She was employed by Pitney Bowles Company for most of her work career. Fiercely independent, she insisted on living on her own, and in her own way, even as her health declined. A loving and kind person she had a bright smile and simply pulled people into her life.

Anita was an avid movie buff and took great pleasure in watching the popular drama series Masterpiece on PBS. And as a sports fanatic, she thoroughly enjoyed watching football and basketball games. She also loved music, played games on her computer and walked a lot for exercise.

Anita is survived by her sister Dr. Wanda A. Hendricks of Columbia, SC, three brothers: Joshua Hendricks Jr. (Angela Johnson) of Charlotte, NC, Chalmers (Champ) Hendricks of Atlanta, GA, and Kelvin Hendricks (Karima Cooper) of Burlington, NJ; Aunt, Joyce Stewart of Charlotte, NC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and a number friends, including Phyllis Hyman, Laura Adair Johnson, Beverly Glover Logan and Larry D. Logan.
