Ms. Ann Adams, 73, of Charlotte, NC, departed this life on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at Novant Huntersville.

Ann Elizabeth Adams was born July 22, 1950 in Panama City, Florida, to parents, Will Ella Brookins and Lorenzo Adams.  She is the eldest of four children born to Ella Brookins.

Ann was raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania with her four siblings. Ann had one daughter, Alicia Gail Adams and was gifted by the Lord with three bonus children Ra'Chelle Perkins, Tiease Ivey-Carelock and Christopher Ivey. In the early 1980s, Ann moved to North Carolina for a better environment for the children to grow and thrive. Ann later returned to New York to pursue her career in educational transportation management. She was employed as a supervisor of transportation for Supertrans, a private school system in New York. Ann later returned to North Carolina and continued working in the educational transportation field for Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools before leaving the position due to health challenges.

Once returning back to North Carolina, Ann found joy in spending time with her daughters, son, best friend, godchildren and grandchildren. Ann was a straight shooter, straight talker and was willing to help in any way she could when she was needed. She could teach you how to make and stay on a budget, save money, create a routine, and was the only one allowed to make the best lasagna this side of heaven for holidays and birthdays.  She would hurt your feelings and love you, all at the same time.

Ann was preceded in death by her daughter, Alishia Adams and she leaves to mourn her children: Ra'Chelle Perkins (Von), Tiease Ivey-Carelock (Anthony) of Charlotte, NC, Christopher Ivey of Lake Norman, NC, WaverLene Ivey; best friend, sister, Gail Webster (David); brother, Lorenzo Boone (Carol), both from Pittsburgh, PA; grandchildren, Kiana Perkins, Kary Perkins, Iysis Carelock, Graisyn Ivey, Emery Carelock, Remington Ivey, Sir Ivey, Gauge Ivey; and great-granddaughter, Amelia Perkins; goddaughters/son Akua Montgomery (Michael), Nadia Hamilton, and Alexander Tiggs; and a host of godchildren, cousins, and family who will miss her presence.
