Anna Kearns Withers, 78, of Charlotte, daughter of the late Vernon Kearns, Sr. and Virgie Sadler Kearns, was born on July 17, 1936 in Charlotte, NC. She departed this life on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at Carolinas Medical Center. Anna was a graduate of Plato Price High School, Class of 1955. In 1960, she was united in Holy Matrimony to her husband, Lovie L. Withers and to this union, two children were born. She worked at several companies during her life - Kinderphoto Lab and Pneufamil Corporation. After retirement, she worked part time for the Department of Motor Vehicles that lasted ten plus years. Her Christian endeavors were numerous. She joined Mt. Olive Presbyterian Church at a very early age and served in several ministries of the church over a sixty year period. Anna was an Elder of the church, a devoted member of the Senior Citizens Organization, Women's Organization, Den Leader, Youth Advisor, Usher and over the Youth Usher Ministry, Gospel Choir member, Congregational Care and Church Greeter. She also received the Honorary Life Membership from Presbyterian Women (U.S.A.). Preceding Mrs. Withers in death are three brothers, Vernon Kearns, Jr., Lindsay Sadler and Robert Kearns. Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 55 years, Lovie L. Withers; one daughter, Carol Summers and one son, Winston Withers; three grandsons, Jamaal Holmes, Winston Withers and Jawann Withers; one granddaughter, Darlene Seabrooks; three great-grandchildren, Avianna Withers, Parker Hunt and Avaiden Withers, all of Charlotte; one sister, Isabel Kearns Franks of Atlanta, GA; and a host of other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The funeral service for Mrs. Withers will be held on Monday, May 18, 2015 at Mount Olive Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
