Obituary

Annie L. Wright Andrews, 87, of Charlotte was born on December 11, 1927 in Hartford, Alabama of Geneva County, daughter of the late Tommie and Ossie Lee Wright. She departed this life early Tuesday morning, May 26, 2015 at Presbyterian Hospital, Charlotte, North Carolina. Annie L. Andrews accepted Christ at an early age. She was baptized at Prosperity Baptist Church in Hartford, AL. She worked faithfully in the church as a missionary. She attended grade school and high school in Hartford. Annie left home at an early age for a career as a laundry technician. She moved to Pittsburgh, PA where she met and married the late David Andrews. She was employed at Rubie's Cleaners and retired after 35 years of dedicated service. Annie was a member of Monumental Baptist Church in Pittsburgh, PA. She was a faithful member of the Usher Board and Trustee Board. She was always fashion forward and loved a stylish hat. She traveled and wherever she went, she never met a stranger. After retirement in 2001, she moved to Charlotte, NC where she joined Ebenezer Baptist Church under pastor, Dr. Leonzo D. Lynch. She was a member of the Sunday School, Missionary and S.A.M. Ministries. In addition to her parents and husband, Annie was preceded in death by two sisters, Lucy P. Larkin and Essie M. Brown and one brother, Tommie L. Wright. She leaves to cherish her memories four sisters, Mamie R. Robinson, Lucille Ford of Hartford, AL and Ella R. Wright and Martha L. Hall of Charlotte, NC; and three brothers, Earl Wright of Tampa, FL, Willie Wright (Alberta) of Norlina, NC and Robert Wright (Dorothy) of Aurora, CO. She also leaves two aunts, Ella Gardner of Banks, AL and Peggy Jones of Detroit, MI; nieces and nephews, great- and great-great-grandchildren, three goddaughters, Edna Barnes and Myrtle Cowen of Charlotte, NC and JoAnn White of Pittsburgh, PA, and a host of other relatives and beloved friends. The funeral service will be held on Monday, June 1, 2015 at 12 noon at Ebenezer Baptist Church, Dr. Leonzo D. Lynch, pastor. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 12 noon. Interment will follow at Beatties Ford Memorial Garden.
