Mrs. Annie (Anne) Elizabeth Caldwell Lee, 94 of Charlotte, transcended peacefully to her eternal home with the Lord on Friday, October 9, 2020 at Five Oaks Manor Concord, NC. She was the daughter of the late Richard J. and Nancy A. Caldwell and was born on December 4, 1925.
Annie enjoyed her youth in Charlotte where she attended and graduated with honors from Second Ward High School. She accepted Christ as her Lord and savior at an early age and became a member of her family church at Seventh Street Presbyterian Church (presently known as First United Presbyterian Church). She loved the Lord and carried our her walk throughout her entire life extending love, grace, and kindness to all she met.
After high school, Annie continued her education, which was incredibly important to her. She attended Barbara Scotia College and Johnson C. Smith University where she received a double bachelor's degree. She later receive her master's degree at New York University. She was a member of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Upon her graduation, she started working as a math teacher at Second Ward School furthering her passion of education. She later became the Head of Curriculum and a Librarian at Johnson C. Smith University where she retired.
Anne married the late Robert P. Lee of Charlotte, NC. They shared an unconditional love and from their union they brought four beautiful daughters into this world: Ms. Toni L. Graham, Miss Angela P. Lee and Mrs. Gina L. White (Maurice), all of Charlotte, NC and Mrs. Nicole L. Hankins (Harry) of Pfafftown, NC.
They later became members of New Saint John Baptist Church where she became a Sunday School teacher and a part of the missionary team. Anne loved to attend church, teach, cook, read, play bingo, and spend time with her family. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and remarkable grandmother. She loved especially taking care of her grandchildren. She was always there when needed. She was a class act, whose strength, personality and heart were one to be admired. She was very generous and truly gave freely. She was very intelligent, outspoken, outgoing, and courageous but also feisty and strong willed. Anne never met a stranger. She impressed upon everyone she met, leaving a piece of her that would make a lasting memory. Anne was a phenomenal woman, leaving a legacy and body of work to be marveled. She completed her journey of sharing God's love, educating and giving to others.
Anne was preceded in her death by her husband, Robert P. Lee of 38 years. She was also preceded in death by her five siblings, Mrs. Helen C. Alexander, Mr. Richard E. Caldwell, Mrs. Marjorie C. Caldwell, Mrs. Mary C. Flowe, and Mrs. Nancy C. Carroll.
She leaves to cherish her memory, celebrate her life, and continue her legacy her four daughters: Toni, Angela, Gina and Nicole; her seven cherished grandchildren, Tiberius Rayshaun Lee, Marcia White Jankee (Marvin), Edward White Jr., Whitney Anne Graham, Jasmine Tone Hankins, Jalen Nicole Hankins, and Joshua Lofton Hankins. She was blessed to have met and cherished nine great-grandchildren, Kamea Lee, Ta'jha Lee, Alyse Allen, Tiberius Lee Jr., Namir Jankee, Joel White, Milan Speas, Cameron White, and Christian White. She leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
