Mr. Anthony Anderson, 59 of Charlotte, passed away on Sunday January 6, 2019 at his residence. Anthony, son of the late Herman Anderson and Geneva Bristow, was born on September 25, 1959 in Bronx, NY. He was the father of the late Anthony Anderson, Jr., April Johnson and Larry Anderson.
Anthony received his education in the Westchester County Public School System. As a youngster, Anthony was on the track team in high school and enjoyed gymnastics. He spent hours upon hours teaching himself how to do various flips and acrobatic tricks. Anthony would also teach the neighborhood kids to do some basic flips.
Anthony later went on to work in maintenance field. He was quite the handyman; There was nothing he couldn't build with his hands. At any given time, he might have been found repairing something around the house. And Anthony had a tool for everything. Unfortunately, he developed issues with his knees, back and asthma and then became partially disabled.
But Anthony did not let his medical issues stop him. He then began to work in day care. Anthony was always extremely good with children. He was such a jolly person and children loved to be around him. All children would look for "Uncle Amfunny" as they affectionately called him. He took his time with them, gave them all kinds of goodies, and created fun activities for them each day.
Anthony could best be remembered for his sense of humor. In another life, he would have been a comedian as he was always telling jokes. Sometimes his jokes were funny and sometimes they were not. But you couldn't help but to laugh anyway.
In addition Anthony loved to go fishing. As a young man, he took many family members and neighborhood children on their first fishing outings. Like most, he enjoyed martial arts movies and at one time, fancied himself a ghetto Bruce Lee nun chucks and all.
Anthony leaves to cherish his memory: his mother, Geneva Bristow, two children, April Johnson & Larry Anderson, one brother, Kim Bryant, one sister, Anthoinette Wood, three grandchildren, one aunt, one uncle, five nieces, two nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
