In loving memory of Anthony Lenoid Byrd; born on June 15, 1962, in Wadesboro, NC. Anthony Lenoid Byrd graced Martha McWilliams Byrd and Henry Thomas Byrd's life with boundless joy. From his earliest days, Anthony was a gift from above, cherished deeply by his family. Growing up in Wadesboro, Anthony's devotion to Jesus Christ blossomed at a young age. Music flowed through his veins, resonating in every note he played in the high school band. Basketball ignited his spirit, becoming a sources of boundless joy.
Answering the call to serve, Anthony enlisted in the Air Force, dedicating a significant number of years to defending his country. His journey led him to Atrium Health, where, for thirty-five years, she shone brightly as a supply chain manager, adorned with accolades and honors for his exceptional work ethic and dedication. Anthony's tapestry was enriched when he met Ramona G. Vaughan, and on September 22, 2018, they embarked on a union guided by heavenly hands. Their love, rooted in faith and devotion, flourished in Lexington, where they epitomized the virtues of faith, hope, and love. As a disciple of Christ, Anthony's love knew no bounds. His gentlep spirit touched all who crossed his path, leaving an indelible mark on family, friends, colleagues, and the community. Despite facing the daunting challenge of pancreatic cancer, Anthony met it with unwavering courage and resilience. He always sought to chart a path forward and steadfastly resolved to face adversity head-on. In January 2024, Anthony's journey led him to a new calling as the Executive Pastor of Christ's Community Church. This role mirrored his profound understanding and embodied love's transformative power. In this role, he led the congregation with wisdom and compassion, guiding them through their spiritual journeys and fostering a sense of community and love, under the direction of Pastor John Hall.
Anthony is survived by his beloved wife, Ramona Byrd; his mother Martha McWilliams Byrd, (special family friend, Alfred Elliott, Wadesboro, NC); his son Joel Javonne Black (Charlotte, NC) ; two cherished grandchildren (Jayden Deontae Black, Londyn Janiya Black); a bonus daughter, Jessica Vaughan (Greensboro, NC) and two bonus grandsons (ZaMari Kai-Lee Bridges, Brayden Zion Woods). He is also survived by his brothers, Thomas J. Byrd (Peggy), Larry R. Byrd, Marvin K. Byrd (Mary) Young, and Keith Byrd (Natacha Melton), along with a multitude of extended family members who held him dear. Music was Anthony's solace throughout his life, and his favorite melody, "Lord Do It for Me""", eschoed his soul's sentiments. On March 24, 2024, Anthony peacefully departed this world, and the Lord answered his prayer, welcoming him into eternal peace. Though Anthony may have left our earthly realm, his spirit will forever dance in the melodies of our hearts, a testament lived with unwavering faith, enduring hope, and boundless love.
