Obituary

Anthony Treyvon Smith, 15, of Fort Mill, SC, passed away on September 10, 2024, in Charlotte, NC.

Anthony Smith was born on May 7, 2009, at Rochester General Hospital in Rochester, New York, to his parents, Brittany Smith and Michael Burge Jr.  In the summer of 2013, at the age of four, he and his family relocated to Charlotte, North Carolina, where he grew up surrounded by love and support.

With a passion for gaming and music, Anthony brought creativity and joy into every day.  He often immersed himself in recording his own songs, showing a flair for self-expression through his musical talents.  His social life was filled with laughter, whether he was hosting sleepovers, enjoying meaningful conversation with his friends, or spending time with his cousins.

Anthony's ambitions were evident in his academic life.  Through his involvement in the AVID programs, focused on career readiness, he explored a variety of fields, dreaming big with interests in engineering and real estate.  His curiosity about the world and his future guided him, always thinking of what he could accomplish.

His faith was a cornerstone in his life, exemplified by his active participation in the Youth Ministry at RTWM.  Church offered him not just spiritual grounding, but also a community that he cherished.

Family, however, was Anthony's greatest joy.  His bond with his mother was especially deep, and he treasured every moment spent with her.  He deeply cherished relationships with his brother and father.  His flashy clothing was the topic of every conversation and always a good playful laugh amongst family and friends.  He was full of warmth and pride, a bright energy and full of love in those that he encountered.

Anthony is preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Mary Burge; maternal grandmother, Yvonne Smith; maternal grandfather, Anthony Torrance; maternal aunt, Andrewnetta Craig; and maternal uncle, Anthony Smith.

He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with his mother and father, Brittany Smith and Michael Burge (Akua); his paternal grandfather, Michael Burge, Sr.; his aunt and uncle, Joseph and Tiffany Gilbert; his brother, Noah McGee; his special cousins, William Dozier and Saniia Gilbert; He is also survived by a host of great aunts and uncles, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends, each of whom held a special place in his heart.

Anthony's life, though brief, was marked by an enduring spirit of love, faith, and ambition, leaving behind cherished memories that his family and friends will always treasure.
