Mr. Antonio Steven Fuller, best known as Tony, was born in Charlotte, North Carolina on November 11, 1960, to the late Larry Senior and Mary Ellen Stewart Fuller.
Tony was raised in Northwood Estates and was a proud graduate of West Charlotte High School. He was very athletic. Tony ran track, played football, and was a drummer in the band, like his father. He had an incredible love for music, especially jazz and funk. He would even stay home and listen to music for hours on end. He often enjoyed attending Charlotte area parades with his family and watching the battle of the bands. Some of his favorite marching bands were House of Prayer, Johnson C. Smith, Morris Brown, FAMU, and of course, West Charlotte Lions.
Tony enjoyed working with his hands He hd an extensive career in machinery and was also a delivery driver for companies like IBM, Systel, and most recently, Staples. One of his earliest jobs was at Carowinds Amusement Park where he met the love of his life, with a simple questions, "Tea, lemonade, or me"? Though she chose lemonade that day, Tony was persistent, and he chose her for a lifetime. Tony loved his family, and he loved people. He worked weekends at Sam's where many would remember laughing and chatting with him. If nothing else, those who knew him best would know he was an avid Tarheels fan and would often be spotted wearing the team's apparel. He loved sports and supported other teams such as the Chicago Bears, Carolina Panthers, Charlotte Hornets, FAMU Rattlers, and FSU Seminoles. One sport and pastime he especially enjoyed was bowling. He loved to bowl and would sometimes watch it on TV. Speaking of TV, he loved watching Andy Griffith.
Tony was a loving father and always supported his daughters attending many plays, sporting events, and concerts. He often took them to the park and to Mr. Kay's where he would get a chocolate dipped cone with nuts. He was always nice and never met a stranger. He was helpful, animated, passionate, active, supportive, and funny.
Tony was preceded in death by his parents, Larry Sr. and Mary Fuller; brother, Larry Fuller, Jr.; grandparents, uncles, and cousins. He departed this earth on February 6, 2024. He is survived by his wife, Judy, of thirty-seven wonderful years. Other survivors include daughters L. Shuntel Fuller of Florida and April McCollum (Darrell) of Charlotte; brother, Freddie Fuller of Texas; four grandchildren, Morgan, Promise, Aleah, and Jayce; one step grandchild, Myles; several nieces and nephews, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, and many friends. Tony will truly be missed.
