April Danielle Flowers-Ray, 41 of Charlotte, departed her earthly home on Tuesday, April 7, 2020 at Levine & Dickson-Hospice in Huntersville, NC after a lengthy illness. She was born July 22, 1978 to Jerome K. Flowers and Barbara J. Flowers of Charlotte, NC.
April was a part of Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools where she attended Garinger High School and Mayfield High School where she graduated SLAM Program at JCSU, one year early from High School on May 1995. April had also attended CPCC for Child Care Development. She worked in Child Care Development for many years and as a Health Care Customer Service representative through the Lash Group until her health kept her from working.
April became a member of the United House of Prayer for all people in her teenage years in Hickory and Huntersville and served and attended First Ward House of Prayer until her death. She received the Holy Ghost and was saved at Huntersville House of Prayer. For many years she served as a choir member on the Sound of Joy First Ward. She was the President of the Youth Department. She was helping and assisting with the McCullough Scholastic fund. April was an active member of the Grace Emmanuel Band where she was the Vice President and Secretary. Although she served as a member of many clubs and auxiliaries, April was known for her "Cooking in the Kitchen", her famous Broccoli 'n Cheese Casserole, Chili, Strawberry lasagna...just a few of her many many dishes.
April loved her children dearly and extremely giving to anyone she came across, but she would get you done in a second. She loved to laugh and crack jokes, but very serious and stern about walking for God.
April leaves to cherish her memories and legacy, her husband, Derrick Ray; parents, Jerome K. Flowers and Barbara J. Flowers; 4 sons, Teondre B. Jones, Demarquis K. Daniels, Dedrick L. Ray, and Davieon J. Ray; 1 daughter, Dheja G. Green; 2 brothers, Jerome K. Flowers Jr. and Darius J. Flowers; 1 sister-in-law, Tamecka L. Ray of Charlotte; mother-in-law, Dorothy A. Ray; 1 special Godmother, Sylvia Caldwell of Charlotte.
She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, very dear friends, aunts, uncles, and special cousins/big brothers, "Spanky" and "Jamar".
