Obituary

Mr. Arthur Edward Reid, son of the late James and Beatrice Reid, was born in Charlotte, North Carolina on February 17, 1956 at Good Samaritan Hospital. He left this earth to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 2, 2015. Arthur passed away after a battle with renal cell carcinoma, better known as kidney cancer. He passed peacefully with his wife by his side. Mr. Reid attended public schools in the Charlotte Mecklenburg School System. He last attended Harding High School. He grew up in the Third Ward neighborhood where he had many friends. There he developed the love for music. For many years in the 80's, you could find him DJ'ing for friends and loved ones. His passion for playing the keyboard and singing jazz tunes entertained his family for many years. Arthur's overwhelming love for the Miami Dolphins was known amongst all who knew him. Mr. Reid was a valued past employee of Charlotte Memorial Hospital and Presbyterian Hospital and the Saturn Nursing Home as a transportation specialist. He loved helping people any way he could. Arthur was a loving husband to Pamela Reid for 38 years. He was an adoring father, son, brother, uncle, grandfather and friend. He loved his family as was evident in all his actions. He will be deeply missed by all who loved him. In addition to his parents, Arthur was preceded in death by two brothers, Jerry Reid and Terry Reid. Left with precious memories are his wife, Pamela Reid; children, Terry Reid (Caitlyn), Curtis Reid (fiancé, Erica Ferguson), and Kiesha Lightner (Jamil); ten grandchildren; four brothers, James Reid, Sr., Leroy Reid (Joyce), Donnie Lee Reid, and Joe Ricky (Pat); and four sisters, Rosetta Broome (Robert), Diane Smite, Barbara Ann Walker (James), and Sheryl Denise Teasley (Tim); four brothers-in-law, Larry Johnson (Vanessa), James Thornwell, Vernon Wallace and Howard Thornwell; one sister-in-law, Mary Isabelle Johnson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Greater Galilee Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 12 noon to 1:00 p.m. Interment will be at York Memorial Park in Charlotte.
