Mrs. Atwood "Peggy" Beatty Sifford was born to Haywood and Mattie Lee Beatty on June 26, 1928, and transitioned to heaven on Tuesday, January 3, 2023.  In June of 2022, Mrs. Sifford celebrated her 94th birthday with family and friends.

Mrs. Sifford attended school in Mecklenburg County, eventually working as a school dietician for the Charlotte School System.  She moved to Stated Island, NY in 1975.

She was a member of St. Philips Baptist Church and served with the Senior Women's Organization and on the Senior Usher Board. "Ms. Peggy," as she was affectionately known, was the neighborhood babysitter on Parkhill Ave in New York.  Everyone loved and adored her.

Mrs. Sifford returned to Charlotte, NC in 1989 where she resumed serving at her home church of Mt Olive Presbyterian Church.  While a member over the years, Mrs. Sifford served in various areas including the Choir, Usher Board and was most recently a member of the Senior Citizen's Group.

Strawn Apartments was her home for the last 33 years.  She was recognized in the Inlivian Newsletter August 2022 issue for her community service at the facility.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Sifford was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E Sifford; brother, Charles "Chuck" Beatty (NY); and special friend, Jordan Walker (NY).

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Eddie "Kitty" Reid (George), Leon Sifford (Cynthia), Veatte Sifford, Dwight Sifford (Connie), Charles R. Sifford, and Vanessa Sifford; sister-in-law, Colleen Grier (Robert); nieces, Claudette and Rhonda Beatty; twelve grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; many great-nieces and great-nephews, other relatives and friends.
