Barbara J. Alexander, 76 of Charlotte, departed this life on Friday, March 18, 2022 at Novant Health Presbyterian.  She was born on May 28, 1946 in Harlem, New York.  She was the daughter of the late Katie Johnson and Melvin Goodman.

She moved to Charlotte, North Carolina at an early age.  Barbara graduated from York Road High School in 1965.  She was employed by Vision Works for over 40 years.

Barbara became a member of the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church where she was a member for over 30 years, serving on the Usher Board, Kitchen Ministry and the Trustee Board.

Barbara was a devoted woman of God with strong faith; she loved the Lord with all her heart which gave her strength, humility, strong-will and compassion to her family and friends.

She adored her four sons, Brian Alexander, Daniel Alexander, Raphael Alexander, and Andre Davis (Tina); adopted daughter, Dayna Douglas; two special longtime sister/friends, Sandra Edwards and Terry Boykins; sister-in-law, Amretta Goodwin; twelve grandchildren, Latoya, Brian Jr., Jared, Christina, Brittney, Jasmine (Diquan), Keona, Dominique, Nadia, Demetria; extended granddaughters, Michelle (Irvin) and Nicole; eleven great-grandchildren; and host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her brother, Warren Goodman; daughter-in-law, Lisa Alexander; aunts, Octavia Fair and Evelyn Hayes; uncles, Eddie Johnson and George Johnson; and cousin, Mae Frances Johnson.
