All who knew Beatrice, affectionately known as "Ma'Ma Bea," are aware that she wore many hats over the course of her 97 well lived years. Beatrice was a true worshipper. She was a devoted mother, matriarch of the Brunson family, and a friend to anyone in need.
Born June 1, 1925 in Matthews, NC to the union of William and Bertha Daniel, Beatrice was the seventh child of this union. Six siblings preceded her in death. On January 27, 2023, Beatrice was called home to forever be with her Lord and Savior.
She met and married Andrew Brunson who preceded her in death after 51 years of marriage. Together there were eight children: Kay Frances, Drucilla, Lurlean, Queen, Bobbie, Andrew Jr., Bernice and Sandra. She also had two stepchildren, Sue and Fannie Mae. Drucilla, Lurlean, Andrew Jr., Sue and Fannie Mae preceded her in death, as well as a son-in-law, Don Lowery.
At the age of 13, Beatrice accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. Sister Beatrice was the oldest and the longest active standing member of Watts Grove Missionary Baptist Church. She sang with the Senior Choir, served on the Usher Board, worked in the food ministry, was a faithful member of the missionary ministry, and along with her husband, kept the church clean. In her later years, her favorite assignment was Church Mother. She loved children and was known for her homemade pound cake and sweet potato pies.
Beatrice was an active member of the Eastern Star Naomi #034 and was a founding member of Faith Chapter and Local Palace #099. Sister Brunson was honored as the Mother of the State for North Carolina, Faith Chapter and Local Palace #099 and was the oldest Honoree Member of Faith Chapter #099.
Beatrice was the mother of 8 children, Grandmother of 22, Great-grandmother of 34 and Great-great-grandmother of 22.
Left to cherish her memory and celebrate her legacy are her loving children, Kay Frances Lowery, Queen Henderson (Lovel), Bobbie Pallante, Bernice Nunley (Lamont), Sandra Grady (Ernie) and daughter-in-law, Brenda Brunson; nephews, Lewis Davis, David Davis; niece, Yvonne Heath (Leroy); and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.
