Ms. Beatrice Lillie Johnson, 72 of Charlotte, transitioned from this life to her eternal home on Thursday, January 6, 2022 at Peak Resources.  She was born on January 11, 1949 to Verona S. Johnson and the late Willie B. Johnson.

Beatrice graduated from Myers Park High School in 1967.  Beatrice's love for helping people led her to the profession of nursing.  She received her nursing training and license through Central Piedmont Community College (CPCC) and began her career as a nurse.  She began her career working with Carolina Medical Center Hospital (Atrium) for 20+ years, and she served as a nurse (LPN) for over 38 years.  Eventually Beatrice had to retire from nursing due to health issues.

But her love for helping people never stopped.  She continued her passion by becoming an elementary school cross guard for Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools.  She enjoyed being part of the children's lives every morning and afternoon and helping them to stay safe.

Also, Beatrice was a member of Greater Providence Baptist Church.  She loved attending the Bible studies with her mom and the senior ladies during the weekly Hour of Power.  Beatrice also loved spending time with her two sisters, Verida and Bernice.  She cherished their annual tradition of attending the Southern Christmas Show and sharing times of fun, food, and laughter.  Beatrice really enjoyed spending family time with her mother, her son, Wesley, and her brother, Dennis.  She looked forward to spending time every Sunday afternoon visiting  with her Mom right after church, and she was always excited about going to the theatre with Wesley to see the latest movies.  And she loved challenging Dennis to determine who could tell the best childhood stories.  Of course, she always won! Dennis has always been there for her.  He was her "little big brother"!  Beatrice passionately loved her family!

Beatrice was preceded in death by her younger brother, Reginald Xavier Johnson.

Beatrice leaves to cherish fond memories, her son, Wesley Johnson (Katie) of Abilene, Texas; mother, Verona Johnson of Charlotte,NC; brothers, Willie Byrd of Charlotte, NC and Dennis Johnson (Jane) of Rock Hill, SC; sisters, Verida Curry and Bernice Feaster (Tyrone) of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, Jeremiah and Olivia Johnson; nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of loving friends.
