Mrs. Beatrice Elizabeth Mitchell, 95, passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2015 at Old Knox Commons in Huntersville, NC. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2015, 12 noon at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 2020 West Sugar Creek Road. Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to 12 noon. Interment will follow at Pinewood/Elmwood Cemetery, 700 West Sixth Street, Charlotte. Mrs. Mitchell was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, William Mitchell, and her two sons, Bob and Billy. Mrs. Mitchell graduated from Second Ward High School in the class of 1938. She joined Ebenezer Baptist Church at the age of eight and was a faithful member until her health started to fail. She was a long standing member of the Deaconess Ministry. She also enjoyed singing on the choir and working with the missionaries. She was affectionately known to her church members as the "Candy Lady." She was employed with Efird's Department Store, now known as Belk, for 40 years. She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Joan Mitchell; grandchildren, Joanerry Mitchell, Steven Mitchell (Jackie), and Warren Mitchell (Detra), all of Charlotte, Robin Wilson (Brian) of Los Angeles, CA, and Lisa Mitchell of Baltimore, MD; a special niece, Ann Sherrill (Rush); special great-grandson and caregiver, Mitchell Bailey of Charlotte; several other great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
