Benjamin Blackmon, III, son of the late Benjamin Blackmon, Jr. and Grace Campbell Blackmon was born in Cabarrus County, North Carolina on March 13, 1952.  He was the oldest of three children.  He quietly and peacefully went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 28, 2022.

Benjamin was affectionately called Dad, Daddy, Grand Daddy, Uncle Benny, Benny and Cuz.  He was a caring and loving father, grandfather, uncle, nephew and cousin.

He loved spending time with his family, laughing and telling jokes.  He loved to travel and loved watching basketball, football and boxing.  Benny loved animals and he especially loved to ride horses.  He also loved going to car shows to see old antique cars.  During his younger years, he was invited to attend the Summer Olympics.

Benny was a 1970 graduate of West Charlotte High School in Charlotte, North Carolina.  He was drafted into the United States Army and later attended North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro, North Carolina.

In addition to his parents, Benjamin was preceded in death by his brother, Terry Lee Blackmon, Sr. and his sister, Gloria Ann Blackmon; his grandparents, Benjamin and Early Blackmon of Lancaster, South Carolina and Hubert and Rachel McClure Campbell of Kannapolis, North Carolina.

He is survived by one son, Benjamin Timothy Ramsey and one daughter, Priscilla Blackmon, both of Charlotte, North Carolina; one granddaughter, Yara Torrance of Charlotte, North Carolina and one aunt, Alice Campbell of Norfolk, Virginia; two nephews, Terry Blackmon, Jr. (Crystal) and Antonio Blackmon, both of Charlotte, North Carolina, along with numerous great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.
