Bessie Mae Carson was born the daughter of the late Howard Steele and Helen Watts Jamison. She was born on May 17, 1936 in Charlotte, North Carolina and achieved eternal life on March 14, 2023.
She attended school in Mecklenburg County. Bessie retired from Aramark Uniform Rental after 38 years of service.
In 1960 she moved her membership from Shiloh Baptist Church in Shelby, North Carolina to Second Calvary Baptist Church where she has been a faithful member. Bessie loved her church and was passionate about the Usher Ministry. She had served as President of the Senior Usher Ministry and as Advisor to the Youth Usher Ministry. She was also involved with the Missionary Circle, Culinary Ministry, Senior Ministry and the Women of Purpose.
Bessie also worked with District III Usher Ministry as Secretary, the United Missionary Baptist Association Ushers Senior Luncheon & Banquet and with the UMBA Women's Auxiliary. She also worked with the Hidden Valley Association.
Bessie loved selling Avon and was known as Ms. Avon. Cooking was her favorite hobby.
One daughter, Cassandra M. Carson preceded her to eternal life. She leaves to cherish her memory, sons, Larry Carson (Zenobia), Randolph Carson; 4 grandchildren, Mario Cochrane (Tamera), Xaviera White, Kusegi Cureton and Ricky Carson (Dollissa); 8 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren; 2 goddaughters, Susan Nichols (Bobby) and Minister Valerie Weeks; god-sisters, Mary White, Ella Norman, Rosa Lisboscomb, Marion Key and Bobbie Johnson, along with a host of other relatives.
Bessie was a hardworking Christian lady who would help everyone and touched everybody she came in contact with. She was a mother and a friend to all.
