Mrs. Bessie D. Singleton, 89, of Charlotte NC departed this life on Friday, September 29, 2023 at Levine & Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville, NC.

Mrs. Bessie Singleton, 89 years young, of Charlotte, NC, earned her wings on Friday, September 29, 2023.

Bessie was born September 9, 1934, to Pencil David and Bessie Ham of Cheraw, SC.

She was a mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, god-mother, confidant, and friend to so many.

Bessie loved to cook, fellowship and spend time together with her family. She especially loved her husband dearly.

While residing in Charlotte, NC, Bessie met her husband of 65 years, Joe Singleton.  Within this marriage came two beautiful daughters, Patrice Pegues and Laguanda Singleton.

Bessie Singleton served many years in child nutrition, cooking for several different high schools and also childcare.

She was a faithful church goer as a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church where she served on different ministries: The Pastors Aide, Kitchen Ministry, Usher Board, Hymn Choir, Deaconess Committee and Mother of the Church.  Bessie will truly be missed.

Bessie was preceded in death by her parents, Pencil David and Bessie Ham; and one sister, Sallie Davis.

Bessie is survived by her husband, Joe Singleton; daughters, Patrice Pegues and Laquanda Singleton; sisters, Millie Davis and Mittie Robinson; one brother, Spencer Davis; three grandchildren, Asia, Samya, and Lamont, Jr.; one great-grandchild, Rodney Jr.; godson, Joseph Bennett; and son-in-love, Lamont Davis, Sr.
