On Monday, February 21, 2022, at 4:59 a.m., God sent his holy angels to call Bette Ruth Walker home.  She lived a long and fulfilling life at the time of her passing at 77 years of age.  She was the third-born child to the late Charlie Frank Blackwell and Lucinda Tucker Blackwell, on August 28, 1944, in Wichita Falls, Texas.

In her young adult years, Bette moved to Charlotte, NC where she met her beloved husband, John F. Walker.  They wed in York, South Carolina and shared a beautiful marriage and life together for 42 years.  They enjoyed traveling together and visited various places across the United States such as New York, Georgia, Virginia, Ohio, Florida, as well as Niagara Falls, Canada amongst others.

She leaves behind two sons, Jerry Blackwell and Chris Walker of Charlotte, North Carolina; two grandchildren, Mitzi Blackwell and Diamond Walker of Charlotte, North Carolina; siblings, Donny Blackwell of St. Joseph, Missouri, Frances Blackwell of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Johnny Blackwell of Wichita Falls, Texas, Rick Blackwell of Charlotte, North Carolina, Linda Blackwell of Charlotte, North Carolina, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents, Bette was preceded in death by siblings, Gloria McLendon, Charles Blackwell, Elizabeth Blackwell, Larry Blackwell, Mary Blackwell and Gwendolyn Blackwell.

Bette Ruth Walker had a lively spirit; she was kind and was a person who loved living life.  She was devoted to her family and will be fondly remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
