Obituary

Deacon Emeritus Bill F. Lowe was born April 25, 1934, in Mooresville, NC to the late Clara B. Lowe and Charlie R. Lowe.  God whispered in his ear at 3:00 p.m. on March 22 and said, "My son, it's time to come home.  You have completed your work on earth."

Bill graduated from Dunbar High School in Mooresville, NC.  After graduation, he joined the 82nd Airborne Division of the US Army, serving for four years.  He was later employed by Douglas Aircraft and was enrolled at Carver College at night.  He later attended Johnson C. Smith University.

He met the love of his life, Juanita Leeper, and they were married on June 8, 1958.  To this union were born sons, Reginald X. and Eric L. Lowe, both preceding him in death.  His grandchildren are Nicole Lowe and Ashley Smith.  He has one great-grandchild, known affectionately as "Little X."

He was a devoted member of Ebenezer Baptist Church, working in many capacities throughout the years.  He served on the Deacon Ministry, was a Sunday School teacher and taught a New Members' class for years.  Further, he volunteered with the Boys Scouts, sang on the Male Chorus and Hymn Choir.  In the late 90's, Deacon Lowe organized a Tuesday morning at 10:00 a.m.  This fellowship grew so large they moved into a bigger room to accommodate all the attendees.  This group also took trips, visited members in the nursing homes and even formed a small choir!  He was a member of Ramses Temple #51 and served as Potentate.  The Temple sponsored a fish fry and Easter egg hunt each year.  Both events were later named in his honor.  He was in the Commander of the Rights of Charlotte, NC.  Deacon Lowe also volunteered at Piedmont Open Middle School as a mentor for many years.

He will forever be cherished by his loving and devoted wife, Juanita; brothers, Charles "Bud" Lowe and Larry Lowe; sisters, Mary Gabriel, Sylvia Smith and Carolyn Frazier, all of Mooresville and Emma Moore of Catawba County, NC.  Deacon Bill Lowe is survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends.
