Obituary

Mr. Billie (Bill) Edward Black, affectionately known as "Pierre", was born on February 6, 1931, in Charlotte, North Carolina. He transitioned to his eternal home, on Thursday, April 4, 2019, at Levine and Dickson at Aldersgate.

Bill received his education from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School system. He was mentored and taught the Masonry trade under Mr. Tom Hodges for many years. Emerging as a skilled mason, his work can be seen throughout the fabric of Charlotte-Mecklenburg and Metro area.

Bill joined Nazareth Primitive Baptist Church at an early age. He became a faithful member of the Mid-day Bible Study Class and the Men's Choir. He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior while attending Jesus Christ Abundant Life Center, in 1990.

In his leisure time, Bill enjoyed going to the movies and taking long walks with his son; outings with grandchildren and great-grand children; playing checkers and spades with his brother and dear friends at Charlottetowne Terrace; attending family gatherings; traveling to see his granddaughter; sharing about his upbringing and his family genealogy in the historical Greenville Community of Charlotte, North Carolina; and talking to family and friends daily, especially his dear sister Delores, whom he affectionately called Sue.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents John and Lorena (Laura) Black, of Union County, North Carolina; his brothers John Robert, Bobby, Frank Delvert, Eugene and Henry Black Sr.; his sisters, Lola Marion Black and Mary Alice Bright Davis, all of Charlotte, North Carolina; sons, Kenneth (Dodo) Black and Jonathan (Jon-Jon) Black; granddaughter, LaToya Black all of Charlotte, North Carolina.

He leaves a legacy of love and fond memories that will be cherished by his son, Lionel Calvin Black (Ginia), daughter, Dawn Marie Hill (Dexter), three-brothers, William R. Black (LaShonda), Jerome C. Black (Ardise) and Lionel C. Black; one- sister, Delores Black Richards, caregiver (daughter/friend), Le'Tashia Stevens, five-grandchildren, eight-great-grand children and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
