Billy Eugene Dunn went to be with the Lord peacefully on the morning of Monday, June 27, 2022, at Presbyterian Hospital at the age of 67. He was born to Arthur and Billie Dunn in Hampton, Virginia on March 28, 1955. He was the third born out of four boys. Billy was preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Billie Dunn and his oldest brother, Arthur Dunn, Jr.
Billy attended Bethel High School in Hampton, VA where he excelled in football, track, and field. As a senior, he was the first athlete from Bethel High School to be named to the Virginia All-State football team on offense and defense. He was also All State in track and field in shot put. Billy earned a full scholarship from and attended The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he played football. Billy met Belle Anita Sanders who also attended the university. He graduated from UNC Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Exercise and Sports Science. Billy loved his time at Carolina and maintained numerous close friendships throughout the years.
Billy married Belle Anita Sanders in Charlotte, North Carolina on August 14, 1982. This union yielded three; Bradford, Belinda, and Bertram. He was a devoted father and husband. Billy spent his free time teaching his children how to play sports like football, basketball, baseball, track, and field. He made sure they were busy and took them to their own sporting events. He often took them to sporting events at Carolina. He often worked more than one job to keep the children supplied with the best sporting equipment. Billy was an integral part of their lives and taught his children everything he knew. Billy supported Belle Anita in everything she did at work and church. He was devoted to her as the love of his life in a union that lasted nearly forty years.
Billy was an ordained Deacon at Statesville Avenue Presbyterian Church, (U.S.A). He worked and retired from Ford Motor Credit Company in 2006 and FedEx in 2018. Billy never met a stranger and if you talked to him long enough, he would find either an event or a person related to you.
Billy is survived by his beloved wife Belle Anita and three children Bradford (Rianna) Belinda, and Bertram, his brothers Charles Dunn (Carol) and Michael Dunn; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.
