Obituary

Bishop Alfred Pridgen, 73, of Huntersville NC, departed this life on Monday, September 18, 2023 at Bethany Woods in Albemarle NC.  He was born on March 23, 1952, in Moore Swamp, North Carolina to the late Carl and Pearl Lee Pridgen.

He received his education in the state's public school system and later became a truck driver for many years.  He was fascinated with driving and logged many miles delivering loads of "just about anything."

A very loving and caring man of God, Brother Alfred Pridgen loved to sing and attend church and later was elevated to a Bishop in the Lord's church.  A short time later, God gave Bishop Pridgen instructions on building a new church while assisting with a few others, all of which are still standing today!  He was the pastor of New Testament Church.  Bishop Pridgen preached the Word of God with power and under the anointing and often incorporated one or two of his truck driving experience(s) in his message.

Bishop Pridgen and his former wife were blessed to become the proud parents of two children, Jeffrey and Valarie Pridgen.

Later in life, Bishop Pridgen met, loved, and married the former Prophess Roxanna West and was blessed to gain an amazing mother-in-law, Mother Bessie Dye.  He relocated to Charlotte, North Carolina and worshiped at God's House Apostolic under the leadership of Senior Pastor, Mac A. Hicklin and the late Bishop Miller at New Hope "Apostolic Church, until his health declined and Bishop Pridgen was hospitalized and later transferred to Bethany Woods Nursing Rehabilitation Center in Albemarle, North Carolina.

The life of the Bishop "seemingly appeared" to be short-lived to man, but not to God.  The Lord saw fit to call him home on September 18, 2023.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Pearl Lee; his brothers, Clyde, Willie Clarence and Bernard, as well as one beloved sister, Gail.

He leaves to cherish fond memories his wife, Prophess Roxanna Pridgen; son, Jeffrey; daughter, Valarie; sisters, Lena Mae, Arlethea, Marjorie and Thelma Brown; brother, Nathaniel Pridgen (Phyllis); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and friends.
