Mr. Bobbie Matthew Simpson, 85 of Charlotte, transitioned to eternal life after a short illness on Thursday March 14, 2019 at Atrium Health-Mercy.  He was born to the late Matthew and Matttie Simpson on February 8, 1934.

Bobbie received his formal education in the Mecklenburg County School System.  He attended Alexander Street School and Second Ward High School.  Bobbie immediately joined the United States Air Force after leaving high school and made it his career.  He served his country well for 20 years and retired as a Staff Sergeant.  Bobbie was an avid fan and regular user of the CB Radio.  He would become widely known by his given "handle" "Bucket Mouth of the South".  He was well liked and loved by all he met whether in person or over the radio.  Bobbie met his childhood sweetheart, Patricia, in the 1947 and later married in 1957.

Bobbie was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Abney, and sister, Lillian Covington.

Bobbie leaves behind to cherish his fond memories, his devoted wife of almost 62 years, Patricia A. Simpson; son, Lewis Simpson (Phyllis); sister, Ludell Dowdle, all of Charlotte, NC; three grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
