Bobby Maddox was born on August 28, 1940, in Charlotte, NC to the late William Maddox Sr. and Mary Alice Simmons. He departed this world to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on July 22, 2024. In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by his sister Madie Smith-Moore and brother William (Sonny) Maddox Jr.

He graduated from West Charlotte High School in 1958 and attended Johnson C. Smith University. He worked as a glass installer at Pittsburg Federal and Pritchard glass companies. Lastly, he worked at Mecklenburg County ABC warehouse where he retired in 2019. For many years, he worked part-time at Two Way Shop & Gas alongside owners' sister Madie Smith and brother-in-law Sidney Smith. He had a passion for bowling, bingo, gardening, music, dancing and was an avid Panther fan. He would always find a place to show off his dancing skills and no doubt is in heaven doing the same.

In April 1960, He married Edna Liles, and this union was blessed with five children: Toni Maddox, MexShelia Watkins, Sandra Holland, Bobby Maddox Jr and Bonnie Maddox.

He leaves to cherish his memories, Edna Maddox; children; Toni Maddox, MexShelia Watkins (Johnie), Sandra Holland (Henry), Bobby Maddox Jr and Bonnie Maddox of Charlotte; Grandchildren, Shanova Maddox, Shamitria Watkins, Sierra Watkins, Jonque' Watkins, Darius Maddox and great grandson Jaiden Maddox; Sibling, Dorothy Johnson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
