Brenda Vera Steadman, 70, of Charlotte, NC, passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center in Charlotte, NC.
Brenda Vera Steadman, age 70, peacefully entered eternal rest on April 2, 2026. Born on January 11, 1956, she was the second child of the late Joseph T. Steadman, Sr. and Queen E. Steadman.
Brenda was a devoted educator who faithfully served in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School System for 30 years. A proud graduate of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and Winthrop University, she dedicated her life to helping children learn, grow, and reach their fullest potential. In 2014, she retired as Principal of Briarwood Elementary, leaving behind a legacy of excellence, compassion, and service.
A woman of deep Christian faith, Brenda loved the Lord and served faithfully within The Park Church as a Sunday School teacher, youth advisor, as well as an administrator of many church projects. She also helped establish The Park Church Scholarship Ministry, reflecting her lifelong commitment to education and service.
Brenda deeply loved her family and was a constant source of wisdom, encouragement, and love. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving sisters, Dolores S. Davis (Jonesboro, GA) and Phyllis S. Oates (Charlotte, NC); her nieces, Angela M. Brown (Jonesboro, GA) and Zael Steadman (Detroit, MI); her nephew, Cornelius (Neal) Davis, III (Alpharetta, GA); her great-nephews, Nicholas Davis (Jonesboro, GA) and Turner Davis (Alpharetta, GA); her great-nieces, Taylor Davis (Houston, TX), Adia Brown (Jonesboro, GA), Taya Davis (Alpharetta, GA), and Nadia Brown (Jonesboro, GA); along with many extended family members, friends, former students, and colleagues. She was preceded in death by her brother, Joseph T. Steadman, Jr.
Brenda will be remembered for her loving heart, steadfast faith, dedication to education, and the many lives she touched.
