Calvin Hudson, 70 of Charlotte, NC passed away on Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at Novant Presbyterian Hospital.
Obituary
Calvin Hudson was born on June 24, 1951 in Mecklenburg County to the late Kennie Grier and Aline Hudson-Craine. He departed from this life to eternal rest on Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at Presbyterian Hospital following an extended illness. He was preceded in death by his three siblings, Charles D. Hudson, Clifford R. Hudson and Catherine W. Phronebarger.
"Shake" or "Shake-n-Bake" , as he was called by his family and many friends, graduated from West Charlotte High School and attended and played football at Johnson C. Smith University. He had a love of baseball, basketball and football. He was a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan.
He retired from Freightliner TMP in MT. Holly, North Carolina as a material handler after 32 years of service. After his dedicated service to Freightliner, he worked part-time as a courier for Direct Link.
Calvin served diligently as an Elder at Woodland Presbyterian Church. He served on a number of ministries including the Session, Hymn Choir, Presbyterian Men, and served as Head of Christian Education. One of his favorite times was coordinating Vacation Bible School. He loved his church family.
He met and married Jacqueline Brown on January 29, 1972. They were High School SWEETHEARTS and were married for 49 years. They share five children, Calvin Bonner, Antonio Bonner (Kimberly), Shawn Hudson (Olympia), Antoinette Hudson, and Marcus Hudson.
He also leaves to cherish a special niece, Brenda Haywood; eleven grandchildren, Daysha, Kayla, Kaila, Tyrus, Brittany, Marcus Jr., Noah, Kessler, Quentin, Dallas and Caleb; one great-grandchild, Harley; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
