Carla Denise Brown was born May 8th 1957 in Charlotte, NC to parents Ester Mae Hughey and Fred James Hughey. She transitioned into her heavenly home peacefully on May 5th 2024. Carla was preceded in death by her parents.

Carla, affectionately known as "Neese" was educated in the Charlotte Mecklenburg County school system. She worked at Cannon Mills in Kannapolis, NC for over two decades and a number of years with CMS until her health declined in 2010. She joined First Mt. Calvary at an early age and continued her Christian journey at Faith Memorial Missionary Baptist Church. Neese served as a beacon of love and guidance to all that knew her. She was a mother figure to many of her nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. Her nurturing spirit and unwavering kindness touched the lives of many, forever leaving an indelible mark on our hearts.

She leaves to cherish fond memories: Husband Kenneth Belton, Daughter Raven Brown, four brothers: Leon Hughey, Darryl Hughey, Michael Hughey (Beverly) and Kem Givens; Six sisters: Irene Hughey, Tara Mccory, Louise Graves, Valerie Moore, Leslie Hughey, Ovella Nowell and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends who loved her dearly.
