Carolyn Joyce Beatty Gaskin, of Stone Mountain, Georgia, transitioned to glory on November 16, 2023 in the evening with her family at her bedside.
Carolyn was the seventh child born to the proud parents of the late Ralph and Inez Beatty. Carolyn's six siblings welcomed the youngest child into the family on April 9, 1938, in Charlotte, North Carolina.
She was educated in the Charlotte Mecklenburg School system and attended Second Ward High School. She would return to attend many class reunions and functions. Carolyn was employed by Lance Packing Company and retired after thirty years of dedicated service. Whey she finally retired, she loved spending time with loved ones and friends, talking, and sharing, taking walks, going to the Senior center and water aerobics.
Carolyn's spiritual journey began at an early age. She was a life-long member of Salem Church. She embellished herself in the word of God, where she found comfort and joy knowing who her Savior was throughout her life. She was a spirited soul that accepted all challenges in her life including her last and final challenge. She served on various committees during tenure. She proudly worked with the welcoming committee and missionary department. She was a very humble to have been named one of the Mothers' of the Church by Bishop Jinwright.
Carolyn was joined in holy matrimony in 1955 to Nathaniel Gaskin. To their union they were blessed with five children: Nadine, Michael, Angela, Valerie, and Melvin.
She was a Christian woman where she exemplified the love for the Lord during her whole life. As a praying woman, she made sure her children knew Christ and attended church and Sunday school regularly. She loved caring for the people, had a giving heart, and loved sharing Christ, praying for strangers, her family and friends. She was a true missionary who visited the sick in the hospital and nursing homes. She used her gifts as much as possible.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband Nathaniel Gaskin, father, and mother Ralph and Inez Beatty, brother Ralph Beatty, Jr., and sisters, Ruth Jefferson, Jannie Gordon, Elise McCall, son-in-law Michael Kearse, grandson Jamarius Kearse, niece Belinda Gordon, and other family members and friends. She leaves to mourn Nadine Kearse of Austell, GA, Michael Gaskin (Janice) of Charlotte, NC, Angela Brown (Chester) of Stone Mountain, GA, Valerie Harris (William) of Charlotte, NC, and Melvin Gaskin of Charlotte, NC. Two sisters; Nancy Mungo, Charlotte, NC, and Mabel Stewart, Brooklyn, NC., fourteen grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and a host of close family and friends.
