Mrs. Carolyn Brooks Ellerbe of Charlotte, passed on July 25, 2015. Funeral service will be on Friday, July 31, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Greater Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, 1243 West Blvd. Visitation will be from 12 noon to 1:00 p.m. Interment will be at Oaklawn Cemetery. Mrs. Ellerbe, daughter of the late Evelyn Withers Townsend, was born September 17, 1947 in Mecklenburg County. She departed this earthly life on Saturday, July 25, 2015 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC. Mrs. Ellerbe was a former employee of Presbyterian Hospital and was an active member of Greater Mount Sinai Baptist Church. She was a member of the Young At Hearts. In addition to her mother, Mrs. Ellerbe was preceded in death by her son, Roderick Brooks., Jr. and four siblings, Cecil Withers, Floyd Withers, Evelyn Barr and Devonde Crawford. She is survived by her husband, Leroy Ellerbe; one daughter, Carol Brooks; three sons, Roosevelt Brooks (Apraia), Rodney Brooks (Roberta), and Ronald Brooks (Cheryl); mother-in-law, Mary McKiver; three sisters, Doris Withers, Gloria Withers and Tammy Wilson; her aunt, Mozelle Withers; her children's grandmother, Lula Brooks (Mama Sweet); sixteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a special friend, Delaine Gattison; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
