Obituary

Carolyn Jean Williams, 75, of Charlotte, NC, passed away on Monday, May 11, 2026 at her residence in Charlotte, NC.

Carolyn Jean Williams was born in Cleveland, Ohio, to Elizabeth and Joseph Ragland. She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved sister, Bobbie Gene Allen.

Carolyn lived a life rooted in faith, family, education, and love. On July 3, 1971, she married the love of her life, Bennie Williams, and together they built a beautiful family. She was a devoted mother to Jemmel Williams and Bryan Williams and lovingly welcomed daughters-in-law Miriam Williams and Mishell Williams into her heart.

Her greatest joy was being “Granny” to her four grandsons: Alex Williams, Bryan Williams Jr., Aiden Williams, and Quinn Williams. She cherished every moment spent with them and created memories they will forever hold close. Carolyn also shared a special bond with her niece, Monica Lofton, and great-nephew, Micah Lofton.

A faithful member of Zion Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, Carolyn carried her faith throughout her life. She earned both her undergraduate and master’s degrees from John Carroll University and worked for Ohio Bell for over thirty years before later serving as a substitute teacher in the Shaker Heights City School District.

Carolyn will be remembered for her warm smile, loving heart, sense of humor, and the way she brought family together through Sunday dinners, holiday meals, and homemade cakes. Above all, she loved her family deeply and leaves behind a legacy of kindness, wisdom, and unwavering love.

She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband, Bennie Williams; sons, Jemmel Williams and Bryan Williams; daughters-in-law, Miriam Williams and Mishell Williams; grandsons, Alex Williams, Bryan Williams Jr., Aiden Williams, and Quinn Williams; niece, Monica Lofton; great-nephew, Micah Lofton; and a host of extended family and friends.

“Well done, thy good and faithful servant.”
