Obituary

Carrie Bell Johnson, 97, of Charlotte, NC, passed away on Monday, July 27, 2026 at her residence in Charlotte, NC.

Carrie Bell Johnson was born October 12, 1928, in Charlotte, North Carolina. She departed from earthly life on Monday, July 27, 2026, at home. She was preceded in death by her father James Hudson, mother Connie Johnson, who she loved dearly, her sister Evelyn Stowe and brother Grady Johnson.

Carrie attended Second Ward High School. She was a faithful member of New Zion Missionary Baptist Church for decades, where she was a passionate teacher of the Adult Sunday School Class. She also served as President of the New Zion Missionary Department, the Pastor's Aid, and the New Zion Hymn Choir. Carrie was also a member of the Mt. Peace Women's Auxiliary, District 3 Group 1, and the Mecklenburg County Union. She also sang with the City-Wide Hymn Choir, worked with the General Baptist State Convention of North Carolina, as well as the Lott Carey Baptist Foreign Mission Convention, and the Sunday School BTU Congress. She also worked with the Women's Baptist Home & Foreign Missionary Convention of North Carolina. She was also employed by the Hicks family for more than sixty years.

Ms. Carrie Johnson leaves to cherish her precious memories: two nephews, Eugene Stowe, Jr. and Bryant Johnson, both of Charlotte, North Carolina; sister-in-law Brenda Johnson; godson Jimmy Hitch; Ashton Hitch; goddaughter Stuart Hitch; and a host of other family members and friends.
