IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Carrington Mckenzie
Richardson
February 28, 2023
Carrington McKenzie Richardson, 13, of Charlotte, NC, departed this life on Tuesday, February 28, 2023.
Carrington McKenzie Richardson was born October 30, 2009, to Alton and Christina Richardson and Kendal Snowden. Carrington, affectionately called Carrie or Care Bear, departed this life at the tender age of 13 and entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, in Charlotte, NC.
Carrie was born and raised in Charlotte, NC. She attended Lil Bundles of Joy Daycare where she was loved dearly before attending preschool at Nations Ford Christian School, Pitts School Road Elementary, J.N. Fries STEM Middle School, and Jackson Day School. Carrie loved learning. She was extremely smart, studious, and an honor student. Carrie was a part of DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America) which is marketing, management, and entrepreneur organization. We will miss seeing her walk down the aisle with the graduating class of 2027.
Carrie was an active member of BOLD Church® where she served faithfully on the Nursery, Hospitality, Youth Praise and Worship, and Media Ministries. It's hard to say when she started serving in ministry because it seems like she was always there willing and ready to do anything she could. When you saw Christina, you saw Carrie serving right along with her in some capacity.
Not only was Carrie a servant leader in church, but she continued to lead and serve at school and in the community. She played volleyball with Carolina UVC where she was an outside hitter for the 13& Regional Hammerheads. She may have been our sweet Care Bear, but on the court, she was fierce with the ball! As a sport enthusiast, Carrie also danced, cheered, ran track, played softball, and had a career high of 11 points in basketball! Carrie was also a Girl Scout with Troop 1604 and a member of FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes).
Carrie loved cooking and traveling. At home she was Top Chef - a pure culinary genius. She loved to cook and prepare meals for her family to enjoy. Her family will surely miss her meals! As for traveling, by age 13, Carrie definitely had stamps on her passport. With her bonus family, The Scotts, Carrie traveled to Costa Rica, Aruba (twice) and Mexico. She also traveled to Germany and France with her father, Kendal.
Carrie was fashionable. She loved makeup, shopping and sneakers. Carrie was so loving. If love could be in a bottle, the label would read Carrington. Carrie, our Care Bear, will be especially remembered for her smile that would light up any room, her joyous laughter, and her outgoing, encouraging, supportive and caring nature.
She was preceded in death by grandparents, Jeff and Amira Snowden; great-grandmothers, Christine Jones, Lue Arna Baker, and Mamie Jackson; great-grandfathers, William Thomas, Juie Baker, Linwood Richardson, and James Robert Jones; and her parakeet, Key Lime.
Carrie leaves to forever cherish her memory her mother, Christina Thomas Richardson of Charlotte, NC; fathers, Alton Richardson and Kendal Snowden, both of Charlotte, NC; one sister, Kailynn Snowden of Fort Mill, SC; one brother, Justice Snowden of Alexandria, VA; great-grandmother, Dorothy Richardson of Spring Hope, NC; Jeanette Thomas of Surry, VA; grandparents, Sylvia Claggett (Larry) of Smithfield, VA, William Thomas, Jr. (Dawn) of Dendron, VA, and Alton (Kimberly) Richardson of Nashville, NC; uncles, Anthony Thomas (Briana) of Chester, VA, Alton Richardson, Jr. of Orlando, FL, Chrisopher Richardson (Shelby) of Wilson, NC; Derrick Snowden of Baltimore, MD, and Keith Eason of Charlotte, NC; aunts, Candace Thomas of Richmond, VA, Tamika Wooten (Wayne) of Spring Hope, NC, Latasha Richardson of Nashville, NC, and Esprine Williams of Gastonia, NC; godparents, Jacquelyn Moore, Deonne Leath (Avé), and Ebonie Leath; bonus family, Gari, Nicole, Phoenix and Kinnon Scott; her Labradoodle Ash; and a host of other relatives and friends.
