Mrs. Catherine Hobbs, 90, of High Point, NC, departed this life on Friday, December 27, 2024 at Meridian Center.

Catherine Walker Hobbs was born on February 3, 1934, the first-born child to the late William and Bessie Walker of Greensboro, North Carolina.

She received her primary education at New Goshen School in Guilford County, North Carolina.

Catherine married Charles Lee Hobbs and they had seven children, Cathy, Veronica, Gloria, Brenda, Joan, Sharon and Angela.  Later she had two sons, Terry and Melvin.

She lived most of her adult life in Charlotte.  She was a member of Berean SDA Church for many years and sang on the choir.

Catherine was a domestic worker, working in homes in Gastonia and Charlotte, NC.  She also worked at hotels and did laundry work.

She was known as a kind, gentle spirit, with a good sense of humor.  She gave good advice to anyone who needed or sought it from her.

Catherine faced many personal and health challenges in her life including a long bout with dementia.  She spent about two decades living in various nursing and rehabilitation facilities in Charlotte, NC.  Her last two and a half months of living was at Genesis Meridian Center/Nursing Home in High Point, NC which had outside Hospice to come in to treat her.  Catherine had been admitted to Atrium Health Main Hospital in Charlotte, NC where she was given six weeks to six months to live due to her medical illnesses.

Catherine was a very strong woman who beat death four times since being in nursing facilities.  She loved life and she fought to live it.

On December 27, 2024, at 8:30 p.m., Catherine was called home to meet her creator.   The storm is over; there is no more pain or suffering.  She is now at peace with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Catherine was preceded in death by her daughters, Gloria and Kathy; her brothers, Tommy and Richard; and her sister, Lillie Mae.

She leaves to mourn her children, Veronica Hobbs of California, Brenda Hobbs of Charlotte, Joan Hobbs of Greensboro, NC, Sharon Hobbs of Texas, Angela Hobbs of High Point, NC, Terry Hobbs of Gastonia, NC, and Melvin Hobbs of Charlotte, NC; her siblings, Jimmy Walker of Greensboro, NC and Carolyn Odell of Augusta, GA; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, a great-great granddaughter; Aunt Nina, nieces and cousins.

Final Note:  Our mother wanted all her children to know that she loves each and every one of us.  These are her words.
