Mrs. Celia Mae Bennett Weddington, 94 of Charlotte, passed away on Friday, April 3, 2020 at Brian Center-Gastonia. She was preceded in death by her mother Laura Bennett and father, Frank Bennett Sr.; brothers, Carl, John, and Franklin Bennett; a sister, Pauline Owens; her beloved son, Walter Bernard Weddington; and her ever so-loved husband, Walter Weddington.

She was born to the late Frank and Laura Bennett on August 7, 1925.  At an early age she found Christ in The Cedar Creek Baptist Church of Wadesboro, NC and joined under the leadership of The Rev. J. R. Faison.  There she joined the choir and was secretary of the church.

When she later moved to Charlotte, NC seeking employment she met her husband of over 40 years, the love of her life, Mr. Walter Weddington, also known as "Walt". They married and from this union there were 2 children born, the late Bernard Weddington and surviving daughter, Lovelia Denise Weddington-Brandon, and son born during earlier years, Alfonza Bennett.

She leaves to cherish her memories; 2 dear sisters, Margie Starkes of Lexington, NC and Flossie Campbell of Greensboro, NC; 1 brother, Haywood Bennett of Greensboro, NC; 2 daughters-in-law, Margie Appling Weddington and Joyce Bennett; 1 sister-in-law, Reece Bennett; 1 brother-in-law, Joseph Starkes; grands and great-grands; the dearest of cousins, nieces and nephews, as well as a host of friends and those much closer who were considered family.
