A Time To Be Born...And A Time to Die

Charles L. Guess, Jr., was born on April 6, 1948 in Charlotte, North Carolina, son of the late Mr. Charles Leroy Guess, Sr. and Mrs. Blandena Davis Guess.  Charles passed away on Thursday, February 28, 2019.

A Time To Learn...

Charles was educated in the public schools of Mecklenburg County, North Carolina.  He was 67 graduate of West Charlotte High School.  He continued his education at Central Piedmont Community College, CPCC, in Charlotte, NC.  He claimed to be a perpetual student, there were WAY too many interesting things to learn.

A Time To Worship...

Charles accepted his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, at an early age.  He was baptized at the Greater Mount Moriah Primitive Baptist Church in Charlotte, NC, under the pastorate of Reverend Robert Herman Frazier.  He was a member of the Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and Boy Scouts of America under the leadership of Scout Master Freddie Jones.  As he grew older and wiser, through trials and victories, Charles became a deeply spiritual man.  He lived with unshakable faith and daily prayer.

A Time To Serve And Work...

Charles was employed with Kenney Shoes, Boise Cascade Corporation and Eastern Airlines.  He served with the United States Army 82nd Airborne.  He served in Vietnam and was stationed at the Pentagon in Washington, DC.  He was honorably discharged on September 4, 1973.  He was a member of VFW Post 7775 where he served as Chief Adjunct.

A Time To Marry...

Charles was previously married in Holy Matrimony to Mrs. Shelley Carol Monk Guess.  To this union, one son was born, Chacaro A. Guess; at which time, Dante Monk became an older brother.

Charles was presently married to his long time caregiver, Mrs. Patricia Allen Guess.

A Time To Be Remembered...

Charles is survived by his loving, caring and devoted wife, Mrs. Patricia Allen Guess; sons, Master Sargent Chacaro A. Guess (Michelle) of San Antonio, TX and Dante Monk (Connie) of Lansdowne, PA; step-children, Naomi L. Allen and Jessie M. Allen, both of Charlotte, NC; seven grandchildren and one step-grandson.  He is also survived by siblings, Delores Guess-Harrison, Lena Guess-Isaac, Felicia Guess-Barnette (Marcellus), and Wade Guess (Jacqueline), all of Charlotte, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and his loving, devoted dog, Soo-Shi.
