Mr. Charles Edward Warlick, 64 of Charlotte, passed away on Friday, October 30, 2020 at his residence. He was known by his family as "Cholly" and by his friends as "Big Charles," was born in Brooklyn, New York on July 11, 1956.  He was the son of the late Russell Warlick, Sr. and Evelyn Morrison Warlick.  He entered eternal rest on Friday, October 30, 2020.

Charles attended private schools in New York until he later moved to Charlotte, NC where he attended high school.  He graduated form Harding High School in 1974.

He eventually met and married Dorothy Rucker.  They were the best of friends and enjoyed spending time together talking, taking long rides, especially to the beach.

Charles was a longtime employee at United Coating in Charlotte.  He later became a long-distance truck driver until health issues occurred.

Charles was a member of Reeder Memorial Baptist Church and especially enjoyed attending Reverend McCorkle's Wednesday noon bible sturdy.  He always looked forward to this class and was an avid participant.

Part of Charles' charm was his infectious personality and ability to connect with people; he never met a stranger.  He enjoyed reliving memories of New York, especially the food such as Nathans at Coney Island and Katz Delicatessen.

Charles loved history and enjoyed conversations about history and politics.  He loved music and had quite a music collection, all genres.

In addition to his parents, Charles is preceded in death by his brothers, Russell Warlick, Jr. and Billy Warlick, Sr.; nephews, Jervon Warlick and Tim Watts, Jr.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Dorothy Rucker-Warlick; one sister, Rosetta Baldwin (Seneca); a brother, Tim Watts, Sr. (Karen); brother-in-law, Robert Rucker; sister-in-law, Tracey Matthew; one niece, six nephews, a very special childhood friend who was like a brother, James Haywood Freeman; and a host of other friends and family.
